BARAHINEBAN

The hardest part about living at Barahineban is pronoucing it.  Try this:  BA (like a sheep), RAH (like a monster), HIN (as in something is Hinkey, without the key), A (the mark you hope to get) and BAN (what you hope not to get).  This is an Awabakal word meaning 'a bright place to live', as are the people who live there.

Barahineban (or Bara) is a home away from home in a unique College community that you won't find anywhere else!  It is the smallest of the Colleges built around a central courtyard, offering 96 self-contatined studio style apartments with differing bed configuration (single, twin for friends or double for couples) with a private kitchenette, ensuite and study area.

Living in Bara offers privacy and an independent lifestyle and is perfect for students looking for a balanced academic and social living environment.

College Life

Bara offers residents a sense of home and community, an environment that makes university life ideal.  Residents can take advantage of an independent lifestyle or get the most out of their College experience by participating in social, cultural, sporting, academic or arts events.

Living Arrangements

You will be more than comfortable with a split cycle air conditioner, heating system, kitchenette and ensuite.  Don't worry about bringing a bed, wardrode, desk, study chair, table, mirror, notice board, shelves, television, DVD player, desk lamp or lockable cupboard, as these will all be supplied.

If you want a twin or double room configuration, make sure you tell us who you would like to share with, as we strongly recommend that it is someone you know and comfortable with, as you will be living in close proximity.

Services adn Facilities

Head straight to one of the two BBQ facilities on the first floor and the fifth floor to cook and socialise.  The Bara common room has a television, pay TV, DVD player (with karaoke equipment), pool table and table tennis to help you relax and retreat.  You can also use this as a study space, with comfortable lounge suites, coffee tables and kitchen facilities provided.
