Become a graduate in demand
Environmental engineers from the University of Newcastle are in high demand locally and throughout Australia. The wide range of skills developed throughout our degree enables graduates to work in a large variety of key occupations.
The Bachelor of Engineering (Environmental) will prepare you to pursue a career in consultancy, design and development, mining and construction industries and management in private consultancies, government corporations such as those that deal with water and the responsibility for the environment, infrastructure, planning and natural resources.
You could find yourself working for a firm of consultants preparing environmental impact assessments for major projects or in critically analysing these assessments, perhaps for state or local government.
The degree could also lead to a role with a regulatory authority where knowledge of pollution generation and abatement systems for various industries is important, or you may be required to devise environmentally sustainable and economic solutions to environmental problems.
Opportunities also exist in government departments and in the mining, forestry and construction industries.
The Bachelor of Engineering (Environmental) is accredited by Engineers Australia and other affiliated international bodies.
