iLEAD Lecture - US Consul General, Niels Marquardt

US Consul General, Niels Marquardt will present the first iLEAD International Leaders Series Talk of 2013.

Niels Marquardt assumed his position as U.S. Consul General in Sydney on August 21, 2010. He is a career member of the U.S. Foreign Service, with the rank of Minister Counselor.

Previous International roles as the U.S. Ambassador include the Republic of Madagascar and to the Union of the Comoros from 2007 to 2010, the Republic of Cameroon from 2004 to 2007 and the Republic of Equatorial Guinea from 2004 to 2006.

Consul General Marquardt's overseas assignments as an economic officer have taken him to Germany (1995-98), France (1990-94), Thailand twice (1981-83, 1987-90) and Brazzaville, Congo (1983-85). He also served in the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs and as a Country Risk Analyst at the Export-Import Bank.

Prior to joining the Foreign Service in 1980, Mr. Marquardt served from 1977 to 1979 as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Rwanda.

His foreign languages are French, German, Thai, and Spanish.
