Bushland assessment officers monitor and plan the management of bushland areas, usually on behalf of local councils or state government land management departments. They may assess and advise on regeneration, noxious weed and animal control, bushfire hazard reduction and the maintenance of public land. They typically liaise with fire services, conservation groups, other natural resource management departments and infrastructure management organisations such as those responsible for roadways. Qualifications in the biological sciences and natural resource management are often important for this type of work.
