Head Teachers are experienced teachers within their field who lead teams of secondary or TAFE teachers within their specialist discipline grouping. Head teachers are responsible for the overall direction of teaching and learning within their discipline group, provide support and leadership to teachers within the discipline, oversee the necessary documentation and administration (reporting, timetabling, budgeting) for the discipline grouping, and liaise with other executive members of staff on strategic matters.


As well as successful teaching experience, Head Teachers require strong leadership qualities, sound knowledge of teaching and learning practices, strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
