Immunisation Nurses are Registered Nurses who have completed a postgraduate nurse immuniser program to gain approval to administer specified immunisations and manage adverse reactions where there may not be a medical practitioner present.

Nurses in Immunology play an important role in the reduction and control of poor health by providing vaccinations against viruses and diseases. They are especially knowledgeable in the areas of immunisation, vaccination administration, disease recognition and management, health and safety policies, and possess sound communication skills. Nurse-led immunisation services can take place in settings such as local councils, general practice, hospitals, community health and occupational health services.
