Industrial relations lawyers represent employers, employees, unions and labour organisations on matters relating to work such as unfair dismissal, insurance, workers compensation, wage disputes and harassment. They also negotiate trade practices acts, employment policies and collective bargaining agreements. A common path of entry into this field is through the combination of law studies with studies in business, specifically in industrial relations where students gain an in-depth understanding of employment laws and issues. Employment opportunities exist in law firms, with unions and other labour organisations, in government and sometimes in-house within large organisations.
This job will require a minimum Bachelor of Laws and most likely be suitable for a person who has been in the workforce and has some experience.
