Nursing research involves the investigation of nursing problems with the goal of improving the nursing care delivered to clients. The role involves designing, conducting and evaluating nursing research projects, sometimes within a multidisciplinary team, and then promoting the implementation of research findings into clinical nursing practice. The practice research nurse also contributes to the development and delivery of research education programs and supports nurses undertaking research degrees. Practice research nursing roles will usually require postgraduate study as well as sufficient experience.
