The Geography major within the Bachelor of Science studies the earth, people’s relations with the environment and with each other. Furthermore, it studies the patterns of variation between human and physical processes across space and time. Students will gain a unique understanding of processes shaping the social and biophysical world, its cities, regions, populations, climate, soils and landforms. Combined with this knowledge is a range of transferable skills in literacy and numeracy, information and communication technologies, data manipulation, analysis and decision –making.
Graduates can work in a wide range of fields, with the opportunities to specialise in particular human and physical geography fields. They may participate in problem-solving, policy-informing, administrative and management occupations. Bachelor of Science graduates majoring in Geography will have the skills, abilities and knowledge sought after by a broad range of employers. On completion of the degree, graduates can expect an:
- In-depth knowledge and skills in a field of science with well-founded knowledge and skills in at least one field of science and a basic knowledge of at least one other field of science.
- Ability to effectively collect, analyse and organise scientific information.
