The Tourism major within the Bachelor of Business equips students with the skills necessary for careers in tourism planning, management, and marketing. Students are educated in the history of the tourism industry and its constituent sectors, tourist motivation and behaviour, and the varying kinds of tourism and their impacts on the social, cultural, and economic environment. An understanding of the key markets is attained and the challenges of sustainable tourism are also detailed.
Graduate are valued for their communication efficiency, comprehension of business motivation, technological and informational competence, and awareness of ethical tourism practices. Employment is desirably found in the national and international travel industry, yet opportunities also exist in hospitality and accommodation, and varying levels and departments of government.
The Business Project elective is available to Bachelor of Business students which involves working on a real world organisational issue with a local business.
