MAKING MODERN INSTITUTIONS WORK (MMIW)
MMIW is based on four following propositions about Modern Institutions:
1. The Nation-State, a once peculiarly occidental form of governance, has now become a global phenomenon whereby all humanity to some extent is governed through Modern Institutions.
2. It is widely recognised across many fields related to human services and development that the basic social functions of government do not meet the ideals of modernity on which they are based. Given current practices in Modern Institutions, social justice and equity are likely to be illusory, particularly for populations within societies that have traditionally been excluded from the rewards of modernity.
3. Without radical reconstruction, the basic organisational mechanisms of Modern Institutions are incapable of delivering social justice and equity.
4. Long term, proactive integration of research and practice is required in order to address the current deficits of Modern Institutions.
