Research Themes

Umulliko organises its research support around three research themes. These are

1.  Humanities, Social Sciences, Law and Business

This research theme is headed by Professor John Maynard, PhD, who has a research background in Education, History, Indigenous culture and politics.

2.  Health

The appointment in 2007 of Associate Professor Peter O'Mara in the Discipline of Aboriginal Health has further cemented research partnerships between Umulliko and the Faculty of Health. Professor O'Mara, who is a graduate of the Indigenous medical program of this University, will play a pivotal role in health related Indigenous research projects.

3.  Environment and Culture

This theme provides the opportunity to study the Australian environment in terms that are compatible with Indigenous values of the land and its place in Indigenous cultural heritage.
