Deleting citations

To delete a citation:

  • Click within the in-text citation in the Word document, then select Edit & Manage Citation(s). The Edit Citation Window will appear
  • Click the drop down arrow to the right of Edit Reference, select Remove Citation, thenOK. EndNote removes the in-text citation and automatically updates the list of references.

IMPORTANT!
It is vital that you use the Edit Citation command to remove in-text citations. If you remove a citation by using your keyboard’s <Del> or <Bk Sp> buttons this will remove the in-text citation, but will not update your bibliography. Additionally, using the <Del> or <Bk Sp> buttons may also cause your in-text citations to move one position within the document.
