Publications
Submission requirements
It is becoming increasingly important that we as Indigenous researchers
become published as well as presenting orally. We would like to
encourage our Talking Circle Facilitators (TCF's or presenters)
to write their papers up for the conference publication. For this
to happen we need to have some guidelines to make the job of refereeing/peer
review a bit easier and quicker.
As with the 4th IRF 'we would like your paper to retain its "yarning"
character, but in a publishable form. Although you might need
to adjust your paper to address an unknown reader, we encourage
you to retain your speaking/yarning voice if such a voice is applicable
to your work. Please feel free to include illustrations if you
used them in your presentation'.
We would like submissions to meet the following requirements:
Length: 3000-4000 words
Font: Times New Roman - 11 point, Microsoft word
Paragraphs: Please leave a double space between paragraphs.
Do not indent.
Spacing: 1.5 spacing between lines
Paper size: 135x204mm
Graphics: Go for it! Make sure these don't 'fall over'
in a different program.
Background information and contact details:
This section will be removed for referees but will be used for
the publication.
Author: (How you want to be named as an author)
Position: (Title, name of institution, name of School/Department/Centre)
Short biography: (No more than 100 words)
Contact Details:(Author's name for mailing, position, local
address details, email address, phone number, fax number and mobile
number if you have one).
Referencing: The Harvard referencing style or author-date
system of referencing acknowledges the author and year of publication
in the text, with full details of the work provided in the list
of references at the end of the text.
NB: Most university libraries have an on-line guide to Harvard
referencing style.
Citations in the text:
Within the text, document your reference by including in parentheses
after the quote the name of the author who is the source of the
idea followed by the year of publication and where appropriate,
the page on which the reference is found.
For example:
Brady (1997, p. 414) has suggested that educators are coming
to a realisation that the introduced systems of education do
not allow for cultural difference.

comment on your work without knowing your identity. Your referees
may also suggest stylistic and/or grammatical changes, and amendments
and additions to subject matter. You will be able discuss these
suggestions with the editor(s).
We would like you to submit your papers by December 13th 2004
