This course will explore theoretical and conceptual aspects of developing positive school and community partnerships and discuss the benefits of partnerships for the educational outcomes of boys and girls. The course will also examine the practical issues associated with establishing and maintaining good relationships between a school and its community, through case studies of best practice.
ObjectivesUpon completion of this course, students will be expected to: 1. have explored the literature related to the benefits to students of community engagement and school-community partnerships. 2. have developed an understanding of processes and skills required to successfully build school community partnerships. 3. have explored practical strategies and resources that could form the basis for partnerships between schools and communities. 4. have critically reflected on personal beliefs and professional responsibilities that impact on community engagement. | |||
