This course focuses on the impact of businesses on the natural environment and how this impact can be minimised. It aims to provide students with a broad understanding of current environmental issues as they relate to managerial decisions in all aspects of organisational activities. Better understanding of the business-environment interface will enable more effective corporate environmental practice and decision-making.
|Objectives||This foundation course has been designed to introduce students from a wide range of undergraduate disciplines to fundamental concepts involved in business and the natural environment.
The topics have been selected and grouped to foster awareness of both business and environmental perspectives and to enable students to apply these constructs to real world problems.
On successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Understand the processes by which environmental issues can be integrated into broader corporate strategy;
2.Understand the multifaceted impact of environmental issues on overall organisational activities; and
3.Obtain better understanding of the relationship between the natural environmental and specific organisational activities such as marketing, production, strategic planning & financing.
