The directed environmental study course is offered when a student wishes to gain greater expertise in an environmental area that is not directly covered by support or core courses in the overall program, or wishes to extend his/her expertise beyond that covered in support courses. Normally, student supervision occurs with an appropriate lecturer on a one-to-one basis. The course normally consists of extended readings from library and other sources. Field work may be included.

| Content | Course content depends on the interest of the student and available supervision. The study must focus on an area of relevance to environmental studies.
