Designed to develop reading and writing skills and cultural knowledge at an advanced level. It is based on the study of essays, short stories, poems and newspapers.

Objectives To enable students to:
1. Recognise, read and write 400 Kanji and read a range of Japanese texts.
2. Gain a good understanding of major grammatical construction and idiomatic expressions.
3. Translate from Japanese to English and English to Japanese
4. Express ideas in Japanese on set topics which develop cultural and social awareness.
Content A selection of short stories, poems, newspaper articles, excerpts from essays and novels. Approximately 800 kanji will be taught.
