What is the relationship between an animal's body-form, and its behaviours and ecology? Theories of form-function relationship in biology date back to Aristotle, and the observation that biological form fits a particular ecology was central to Darwin's ideas of evolution. The field that examines form-function relationships - functional morphology - has many obstacles to overcome since the anatomy and behaviour of a species is complex and makes quantitative analysis difficult.....
