Harmony Day is held around Australia on the 21st of March each year to celebrate our success as a diverse society. The focus of Harmony Day is to build social cohesion through the promotion of Respect, Participation and a sense of Belonging.

The International Office, the Equity and Diversity Unit, English Language and Foundation Studies Centre, UoN Services, NUSA, NUPSA, Chaplaincy Service, ResLife Accommodation Service and the Wollotuka Institute work together each year to host a range of events to celebrate Harmony during the month of March.

In 2013, the Harmony Day theme Many Stories - One Australia recognises that Australia is a land of diversity.

Harmony Week - 18th to 21st March 2013 - at the University of Newcastle will see a week of inclusive on-campus events designed to celebrate the rich diversity of our staff and students.
