University Mental Health Day 2026
Graphic with messages about mental health support and self‑worth.
On May 5, 2026, The University of Newcastle joins universities across Australia in celebrating University Mental Health Day (UMHD). This annual event held on the first Tuesday in May each year is coordinated by the University of Newcastle and supported by Student Minds.
Increasing academic pressure, social isolation, and broader global challenges continue to impact the wellbeing of university communities. UMHD provides a coordinated national and global opportunity to raise awareness, build mental health knowledge and skills, reduce stigma, and encourage engagement with support services.
There are many mental health services, both internal and external to the University to support mental health if you’re doing it tough. All members of our University community should be able to thrive.
Take some time to prioritise your mental health and engage with the personal support resources and services available to you.
