Application Process

All prospective candidates who wish to be considered for a Commonwealth Supported Place within the Bachelor of Medicine - JMP must lodge all three applications outlined below to be eligible for consideration. The BMed Information book is available for download and has lots of information about the two campuses and the application and selection processes.

1. Register to sit UMAT

You must register online to sit the Undergraduate medicine and Health Sciences admission test (UMAT). On-time registrations for UMAT 2012 close on 1 June 2012. A standard fee of $210 will apply. Upon payment of an additional fee late registrations will be accepted up until 15 June 2012. Registrations received after the late closing date will not be processed. In 2012 UMAT will be held on 25 July. Further information concerning UMAT may be obtained at through the UMAT office.

AND

2. Apply directly to the JMP

You must complete either the standard or rural (RRAS) online JMP direct university application. The closing date for the online JMP direct university applications for admission to the Bachelor of Medicine - JMP is 28 September 2012. The closing date is strictly enforced and late applications WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED under any circumstances. Applicants will be able to indicate their preferred enrolment location (University of Newcastle or University of New England) on their online application.

3. Lodge an Application through the Universities Admissions Centre (NSW & ACT) Pty Ltd (UAC)

You must submit an online application through UAC, ensuring that you include Bachelor of Medicine - JMP (UAC Code 780000 - CSP) among your preferences. The closing date for on-time applications is 28September 2012. Upon payment of the appropriate late fee, late applications will be accepted by UAC. It is essential that you have lodged a UAC application and that Bachelor of Medicine - JMP is included as a preference by 30 November 2012. Any change of preference to add Bachelor of Medicine - JMP to your preferences after this date will not be considered. Instructions on how to apply to UAC may be obtained from the UAC website.

Candidates must lodge all THREE of the above applications to be eligible to be considered for entry to the Bachelor of Medicine - JMP.
