The winners of the 2006 Brian and Rohma Cummins Awards for Painting and Drawing will be announced at the University of Newcastle this week. Dr Brian Cummins, who completed a PhD in Fine Arts at the University in 2004, established two awards worth $1000 each to recognise excellence in drawing, and painting.

An exhibition of the artists nominated for the award will be held in The University Gallery, Callaghan campus, from Thursday 17 May 2007 until Friday 22 June 2007. The gallery is open Thursdays and Fridays from 12pm - 6pm. Media is invited to attend the official opening on Thursday 17 May 2007 at 6pm. Dr Brian Cummins will also announce the winners of the award.
