Considering your future? Thinking about going to university?
The University of Newcastle is opening its doors for the annual Information Day at the Callaghan campus on Saturday 8 September 2007, giving potential students the chance to meet their future.
"The University of Newcastle is a place of opportunity and a great environment to study," Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Kevin McConkey said.
"Whether you are in your final year of high school, changing career or furthering your education, our Information Day is a great opportunity to find out more about going to university.
"You can find out about full and part-time degree programs, discuss options face-to-face with staff and students, match your ambitions to our offerings, and gather all the information you need to make an informed choice about your future.
"If it is further university study you are interested in, staff will be on hand to talk about postgraduate options. It’s also a great opportunity for TAFE students to find out how their studies can help them progress to university degrees."
Applications for admission into degree programs for 2008 close on Friday 28 September, and for the first time can only be made online via the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) website.
To assist with the new online entry requirements, the University will open its Student Hubs at the Callaghan campus on Information Day so people can apply on the day. Staff will be on hand to help with the application process.
Professor McConkey said Information Day aimed to help visitors get a feel for university life and will include course presentations, campus tours, interactive displays and live performances.
"Visitors can check out every corner of the University, including the lecture theatres, labs, on-campus accommodation, the library, art gallery, sporting facilities and much more.
"We're also holding presentations for parents, sessions about admissions and fees, and discussions on what first-year students can expect when they start their studies."
Information Day will be held from 10am to 3pm on Saturday 8 September on the Callaghan Campus of the University of Newcastle. A further Information Day will be held on the Central Coast campus on Saturday 15 September from 10am to 3pm.
