University of Newcastle Advisory Day

University of Newcastle staff and students will be on hand to talk to prospective students about study options, preferences, preference changes and alternative entry, at an Advisory Day on Thursday, 3 January 2008.

University of Newcastle staff and students will be on hand to talk to prospective students about study options, preferences, preference changes and alternative entry, at an Advisory Day on Thursday, 3 January 2008.

Acting Vice-Chancellor, Dr Sue Gould, said the Advisory Day was for all prospective students, but would be particularly useful for people who had received a higher or lower Universities Admission Index (UAI) than expected.

"A UAI can really change the options available to prospective students," Dr Gould said. "If they received a higher UAI than expected, they may wish to change their preferences and explore different degree programs.

"If they received a lower UAI than anticipated, staff will be available to help them with alternative entry pathways and other study options.

"Our Advisory Day is a chance for students to seek helpful, personalised advice about the choices available to them."

The Newcastle, Central Coast and Port Macquarie campuses will each host an Advisory Day on 3 January. The University's Student Hubs at Newcastle and the Central Coast will be open for prospective students to change their preferences online via the UAC website, with the assistance of University staff.

Another Advisory Day will be held at all University of Newcastle campuses on Friday 18 January after the release of main round offers.

Prospective students have until Friday 4 January 2008 to change their preferences for inclusion in the Main Round of the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) offers, which will be released at 9pm on Thursday 17 January 2008.

Late applications for 2008 will be accepted by UAC until Thursday 1 February 2008.
