Vale John Keats
A funeral will be held tomorrow, Tuesday 8 January, to celebrate the life of Emeritus Professor John Keats who passed away on New Year's Day, aged 86.
Emeritus Professor Keats was appointed the Foundation Professor of Psychology at the University of Newcastle in 1965, a position he continued until his retirement in 1986.
As a Professor and Emeritus Professor, John's impact on the discipline of psychology throughout the world was outstanding, and he received multiple awards and much recognition for his work in mathematical psychology.
Together with wife Daphne, John was a passionate supporter of the University, psychology and international relations, especially with China.
In 2000, the Keats established an Endowment Fund that provides seed grants for research projects at the University of Newcastle in an effort to foster renewed interest in social sciences.
Emeritus Professor Keats' funeral will be held on Tuesday 8 January at 11.30am at the Pettigrew Chapel, Harris Street, Wallsend.
The University will hold a celebration of John's life and work in early February.
