Disability Forum

The University of Newcastle Disability Forum will inform staff about the legislative requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act and the Disability Standards for Education, as well as strategies to ensure we meet these requirements.

The University of Newcastle Disability Forum will inform staff about the legislative requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act and the Disability Standards for Education, as well as strategies to ensure we meet these requirements.

The keynote speaker is the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commissioner, Mr Graeme Innes, who will speak on the ethical and legislative imperatives for all universities to meet their responsibilities towards students with disabilities.

The guest speaker is Mr Tony Payne, Director of Student Services, University of Tasmania, who - with colleagues from other Australian universities - completed a project on 'Creating Accessible Teaching and Support'.

The University of Newcastle Disability Forum will be held from 9.30am - 12.30pm on Tuesday 1 April 2008 in the Purdue Room, Newcastle campus (at Callaghan).
