The University ran a survey of new students earlier this year that has uncovered some interesting findings about the student population.
The Commencing Students Survey found that the majority of new students are from the Hunter Region with around 70 per cent of respondents saying that they didn't have to move away from home to study at the University of Newcastle.
The survey also found that:
- Ninety per cent hope to gain a professional career from completing their degree
- Three-quarters of respondents attended O-Week activities
The survey is important to the University so that we can continue to improve services for our students. Feedback on O-Week events and other activities also help with planning for future events.
As a thank you to students who completed the survey, each went into the draw to win one of two iPods. The lucky winners were Lynda Drummond, a Bachelor of Nursing student at the Central Coast campus, and Wayne Mere-Smith, studying a Bachelor of Arts at the Callaghan campus.
