The University of Newcastle's Chamber Choir will go to head to head with the nation's best after progressing through to the final of Battle Of The Choirs.
The 40-strong choir will take on Vox Synergy and Harambee in the culmination of the television series competition.
In the hotly contested semi-final last night, the Chamber Choir belted out a special arrangement of Jimi Hendrix's Purple Haze. The arrangement by the Conservatorium's Professor Richard Vella saw the Choir again expand its horizons and perform rock music.
A solo by Tex Perkins headlined the Choir's medley piece - You Can't Always Get What You Want by the Rolling Stones.
For the third time, the Choir pulled out a battle tune. Its rendition of Justin Timberlake's Cry Me a River was enough to seal a place in next Sunday's final.
The choir that wins the competition will receive $100,000 and a recording deal with Universal Music.
The University of Newcastle will be cheering on the Chamber Choir when the final of Battle Of The Choirs airs on Prime at 7.30pm on Sunday 3 August 2008.
