The Australian premiere of the epic masterpiece Planet Earth will headline two concerts to be performed by the University of Newcastle's Wind Orchestra this week.
Composed by Johann de Meij, Planet Earth's three movements delve into various aspects of the majestic, yet dangerous planet we inhabit.
Following the premiere of this piece, the Wind Orchestra will then pay homage to Broadway classics.
Joining with the University of Newcastle Concert Band, it will perform favourites from musicals including Wicked, West Side Story, Chess, Evita and My Fair Lady.
The Wind Orchestra will perform in the Harold Lobb Concert Hall at the University of Newcastle's Conservatorium on Friday 7 November 2008 and Saturday 8 November at 8pm. Tickets are available at the door (prices range from $8 - $15).
