Close to 100 people gathered for a night of celebration last week to thank the wonderful generosity of the many donors to the University of Newcastle (UON) Foundation.
Over the past 10 years donors have contributed more than $30 million in donations and bequests to the University. Their support has helped set up scholarships, fund research and establish professorial chairs.
The special Donor 'Thank You' cocktail event, held in the Godfrey Tanner Bar, was an opportunity for donors to connect with some of the people they have assisted over the years.
The event also brought together local industry heads, business and community leaders and representatives from the University including the Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor.
UON Foundation CEO Louise O'Connell said it was a great way to show appreciation for the role donors had played in the success of the University and the region.
"The role of the UON Foundation is to attract philanthropic support from community, alumni, business and industry to support the University of Newcastle. Through their generosity, donors have shaped not only the University but also the Hunter community."
"Congratulations to the team from the UON Foundation for organising the donor recognition event," Louise said.
