University of Newcastle Professor Paul Dastoor will showcase his ground-breaking solar-cell technology when he appears on the ABC's New Inventors television show tonight at 8pm.
Organic solar paint is an environmentally friendly technology where organic solar-cells, in the form of paint coatings or flexible plastic sheets, can generate electricity when applied to a range of building, vehicle and appliance surfaces.
Professor Dastoor's invention, which he and his team have spent 10 years developing, could address the global energy crisis by allowing every household in Australia to generate its own electricity.
If Professor Dastoor's organic solar paint is named the winning project on tonight's show, he will be eligible to be selected as a grand finalist. His colleagues Professor Behdad Moghtaderi and Dr Elham Doroodchi, who won their show on April 14, are also in the running to be selected as one of five grand-finalists.
Professor Moghtaderi and Dr Doroodchi appeared on the show with their GRANEX technology that could revolutionise geothermal power generation and waste heat recovery. http://www.abc.net.au/tv/newinventors/txt/s2868471.htm
