Historian and author Professor Henry Reynolds will present an alternative view of Australia’s early colonial history at a free public lecture, on Wednesday 27 October.
Professor Reynolds, winner of the Prime Minister’s Literary Award in 2009, will deliver the annual John Turner Memorial Lecture, hosted by the University of Newcastle Office of Corporate Development and Community Partnerships and WEA Hunter.
Professor Reynolds will outline his research that points to frontier wars between the Aboriginal people and colonial settlers, and the role Indigenous soldiers played in Australia’s war history.
The annual John Turner Lecture explores the regional history of Newcastle and the Hunter Valley. The free public lecture will be held at Newcastle City Hall from 6pm.
