There was a fire today, 14 December, on the third floor of the University’s David Maddison building located on the corner of Watt and King Streets, Newcastle.
Students and staff are safe and accounted for.
At this stage, it appears that one laboratory has been affected. The building has been cleared by the relevant authorities and the University is currently assessing the extent of the damage.
The David Maddison building comprises office and laboratory space for health and medical researchers from the University of Newcastle.
