Chinese university leaders visit to enhance alliance with Newcastle

The University of Newcastle community has this week welcomed a delegation of presidents and senior staff from four Chinese tertiary institutions.


The University of Newcastle community has this week welcomed a delegation of presidents and senior staff from four Chinese tertiary institutions.

The delegation that includes three University Presidents and 12 other senior staff is part of Shangri-La University Alliance (SUA) partnership arrangement with the University of Newcastle.

University of Newcastle Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Global Relations), Professor Kevin McConkey, was appointed Honorary Chair of the SUA President’s Committee at a welcome dinner held on Sunday 27 March 2011.

The SUA is a multi-national network of tertiary education institutions dedicated to advancing opportunities for students all over the world. The SUA is a pioneer of transnational cooperation and is committed to innovation and excellence in teaching and research.

The delegation will remain in Newcastle until Tuesday 29 March 2011.
