Getting people and commodities from A to B is a logistical conundrum. Operations research makes it happen.

The University of Newcastle is hosting a workshop on integer programming, with leading national and international researchers discussing improving efficiency in scheduling of shift workers, mining logistics and scheduling truck routes.

Participants include the University’s world leading researcher Professor Natashia Boland; Assistant Professor Simge Kucukyavuz from Ohio State University who specialises in disaster relief logistics; as well as one of the major the founding fathers of the field, Professor George Nemhauser, from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
