The University will bid farewell to 90 international graduates from almost 20 countries today.

The International Student Farewell Ceremony gives students unable to attend their graduation ceremony a chance to celebrate their achievements with their peers before heading home.

Tanzanian student Rose Victor, who has completed a Master of Philosophy (Nutrition and Dietetics), will speak on behalf of her peers of the mixed emotion they feel when returning to their countries of origin.

Monday’s ceremony is the University’s way of saying thank you for the important contribution that international students make to our community.

Countries represented include Austria, Bangladesh, China, Finland, Germany, Iran, South Korea, Lesotho, Maldives, Norway, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Samoa, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sweden, Tanzania, and the US.

The students will join an alumni network of more than 100,000 across 95 different countries.

This event is for international students completing their studies in Semester 2 or Trimester 2 or 3.

Picture opportunity: The International Student Farewell Ceremony will be held on Monday, 31 October 2011, between 2pm and 3pm at Edwards Hall, Callaghan Campus.

The ceremony will include a performance by Indian student dancers.
