Procedure

  1. If a program is currently under review as approved by Academic Senate then revisions to the program should normally only take place as part of review implementation. If a review has been undertaken recently then the review recommendations must be actioned with a timetable and revisions should normally take place as part of the review implementation. However, if warranted, these revisions can occur prior to the completion of the review, if there are pedagogical concerns regarding the timing of the Review or the implementation of any proposed changes. The changes will be considered and approved under delegated authority by the PCAC and notified to the Academic Senate.
  2. Program documentation for program changes should consist of:

i. the original Program Documentation with the proposed changes marked (e.g. redline and strikeout); and

ii. advice from the Faculty Board of the Faculty which offers the program, indicating:

(a) the intention, nature and effect of the proposed change;

(b) whether the proposed change will alter the direction or philosophy of the program;

(c) whether there are significant changes in the structure of the program;

(d) the specific courses in the program that will be changed;

(e) whether the proposed change has an impact on a School, Faculty or other area of the University, and if so whether appropriate consultation has taken place;

(f) whether the proposed change has implications for more than one program, and if so whether appropriate consultation has taken place;

(g) whether the proposed change involves a change to the Organisation of the Academic Year (from semester to trimesters or vice-versa);

(h) any resource implications of the proposed change;

(i) how changes may impact on students with a disability and strategies developed to ensure inclusion of this cohort; and

(j) whether the proposed change will require a change to the Schedule for the program.

iii.  Revised Program documentation must be accompanied by the sign-offs from the Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Faculty responsible for the Program, the Pro Vice-Chancellor of any contributing Faculty.

iv. All changes to programs must be approved by PCAC and notified to Academic Senate.

(a) Proposals should be forwarded to the PCAC and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) (DVC (A)). The DVC (A) then considers whether the proposal has resource implications. If the changes have no resource implications, and there are no concerns about the proposed changes, they will be forwarded to PCAC for approval.

(b) If the changes have resource implications, the DVC (A) will resolve these before the proposed changes are sent to PCAC for approval.
