This program is for continuing students only.

New students wishing to study economics may do so as a major within the new Bachelor of Commerce program.

The study of economics is crucial to understanding how government and business operate effectively in a global economy. Economics will also give you the knowledge and the skills to analyse data, recognise trends, undertake research and make educated forecasts about likely economic outcomes.

Back to topWhy study with us? (click to hide)

Many of our graduates have gone on to lead great careers both in Australia and overseas, as a result of the course content and our effective teaching methods.

The degree provides considerable flexibility in the choice of courses and specialist pursuits. It starts with six prescribed courses and then progresses to one of the two major sequences of study - Economic Policy Analysis, or Money, Banking and Trade and Finance.

Back to topCareer Opportunities (click to hide)

Career choices include public and private sector positions in finance and securities analysis, and government positions in policy analysis and development. Careers are also available in stockbroking, investment analysis, labour market research, taxation economics, and treasury positions in banking and environmental planning.

The Disability Support Service and relevant Faculty and School officers will work together to ensure reasonable adjustments are provided in a timely manner. Please note: All students must fulfil the inherent requirements of the programs and courses they are undertaking. While reasonable adjustments can be made, these adjustments cannot compromise academic integrity. It is the student's responsibility to check all the requirements of courses, and consider the effects of any medial condition or disability on their ability to complete course requirements.
