On behalf of the Asset Based Community Development Asia Pacific Conference Committee, it is with great pleasure that I invite you to the second ABCD Asia Pacific Conference. This Conference is an opportunity to come together to focus on ways in which we can utilise the existing assets of communities and individuals to ensure our society is inclusive of all people, regardless of age, culture, economic status, location and physical abilities. Delegates will have the opportunity to share their stories, learn from each other and to develop strategies on how to work with communities in strength based ways.
The keynotes have been selected because of their extensive experience in using the ABCD approach in a broad range of contexts.
The conference program focuses on the overall philosophy of the ABCD approach, the issues of implementation, evaluation of the tools for implementation and stories of success. These elements will be related to the themes of:
Valuing young people
Revitalising communities
Fostering social and disability inclusion
Measuring what works and why
Working with people and place
Celebrating diversity
Activating citizen led development
ABCD is a whole of community approach that builds on the communities strengths and aspirations. It share similarities across varying economic and cultural dimensions of this globe and provides processes that can guide the way forward as we work together to ‘Support others and ourselves to discover and mobilise community strengths’.
