Glen Avery Memorial Scholarship

Donor

Friends and Family of Glen Avery

Establishment

This scholarship was established in 2008 in memory of Glen Avery, a man whose unrivalled energy and enthusiasm for helping others is legendary. During 20 years of outstanding service to the University of Newcastle, he touched the lives of many.

Glen will be remembered for the care and service he provided to colleagues, students, their families and members of the community with whom he interacted. During his many years at the University he worked in a variety of roles, including human resources, alumni relations, the management of scholarships and prizes, advising prospective students, and as a team leader in the Enquiry Centre. These roles reflected Glen's love of people and his commitment to service.

Glen enjoyed a long and diverse involvement in musical theatre. This scholarship in Glen's honour is a fitting way to celebrate and remember the life of a special individual who enriched the lives of those who knew him. The Scholarship will enable Glen's spirit of caring and service to others to endure in perpetuity.

To recognise Glen's passion for the arts, his family, friends and colleagues have established a Scholarship Fund in his honour. Glen was a proud advocate of higher education, and it is hoped the fund will provide for a perpetual scholarship to reward, encourage and recognise a worthy student with demonstrated aptitude and commitment in the area of the performing arts each year
