Welcome to the School of Nursing and Midwifery
The School of Nursing and Midwifery warmly welcomes all of our new and returning students.
Thank you for choosing to study and build your career with us, whether as a health professional or researcher.
For our new students, starting university is both an exciting and challenging time. Following our orientation program and attending program information and enrolment sessions is the best way to get to know the School of Nursing and Midwifery and to meet staff and fellow students that will support you while you study.
2012 is also an exciting year for the School of Nursing and Midwifery with important student focussed milestones now in place, including:
- the commencement of the Bachelor of Midwifery program at the Port Macquarie campus. The three year degree was developed in conjunction with the Mid North Coast Local Health District and is being provided in partnership with the health service
- the first complete year of operation for the new Education and Nursing building at the Ourimbah (Central Coast) campus. This state of the art building features specialist clinical and teaching laboratories that support our nursing programs, and provide for the further development of on-campus nursing and clinical education, and
- the completion of renovations to the Richardson Wing foyer that provide students with new a meeting and learning space, including lounges, two dedicated student computers and laptop ethernet and wireless internet access.
No matter which degree program you study, or which campus you attend, you will establish close practical links with your chosen field through our relationships with Local Health Districts, private practitioners and community services, or through industry involvement. In addition our high quality clinical placements will provide the opportunity for you to learn in a variety of health care settings.
Welcome to the School of Nursing and Midwifery, on behalf of Professor Mike Hazelton and all the academic and professional staff of the School.
