Important notice to all 2012 applicants
Please be advised that beginning April 2012 construction of the new student accommodation is due to commence. It is anticipated that there may be disruptions to residential students during the construction period. Every effort will be made to minimise these disruptions. Please review the aerial map to see the location of the the construction site.

Accommodation Tours

Application Process
1. Submit an online application.
2. Pay the application fee (New applicants AUD$30.00 / Current or past residents AUD$10.00). This must be paid online by Visa or MasterCard.
3. Applications submitted without payment are considered invalid and will not receive correspondence. This payment is non refundable.

You may have heard about personal statements, references and application essays.These are a thing of the past. The University of Newcastle endeavours to give an equal opportunity to all accommodation candidates and for this reason, utilises a random ballot system. The parameters of the system are set to give commencing students and domestic students with a high travel distance a greater chance of success.
Offering Process
Successful applicants are notified via email after they have been accepted into their course at the University of Newcastle. This offer is for one year only, and there is no guarantee of re-admission in following years. You cannot live in college forever! Resident mentor positions are a voluntary aspect of readmission. These resident mentors have the responsibility to be mentors and leaders in behaviour and participation within the college.
