Public and Products Liability

This insurance protects the University against claims for third party bodily injury and property that occurs as a result of the negligence of the University, its staff, students, volunteers, Council, Board or Committee members.

In the legal sense, negligence means 1) the failure to use reasonable care; 2) failure to act as a reasonable person would be expected to act in similar circumstances where such failure leads to a personal being injured or their property damaged.

Geographical Limits:

Anywhere in the world, with the exception of

  • Personal Injury or Property Damage caused by or arising out of University Products knowingly exported by the University, or our agents or servants, to the United Stated or Canada.
  • Claims made and actions instituted within the United States of America or Canada or any other territory coming within the jurisdiction of the courts of the United States of America or Canada, (This exclusion does not apply to claims and actions made in relation to the University employee or student who is involved in Non-Manual work or is supervising work and is resident outside of the United States of America of Canada.   


If you become aware of an incident where a person is injured or property is damaged as a result of the University’s negligence, please notify the Insurance Team of the Risk Management Unit as soon as possible.
