I am currently a Senior Lecturer in the School of Education. After completing a minor thesis in education in 1999 I commenced a PhD in the field of finance. This doctoral study lead to the development of high level statistical skills, particularly in regard to the analysis of time series. I was awarded my PhD in Financial Mathematics in 2006 and since that time I have continued to work as a researcher and teacher in mathematics education in addition to publishing extensively from my PhD.

I completed my PhD in Finance in 2006. The research involved in the PhD was highly quantitative and examined methods of modelling the preformance of managed funds. More recently, I am examining the notion of 'pedagogical content knowledge' and how it can be incorporated into mathematics teacher education programs. I am also interested in the effective integration of new technologies as educational tools both in the higher education setting and in relation to the teaching of mathematics in schools.
My current research focuses on effective mathematics pedagogy, mathematics pre-service teacher education and the innovative uses of educational technology.
