Research expertise
I am interested in the study of distributions, particularly the Generalised Lambda Distribution, as well as a number of applied statistical fields, including:
Bayesian "belief updating" in Robotics
Socio-Spatial Statistics - Describing spatial patterns of social measures
Evaluation of the goodness-of-fit of ecological models
Readability - measuring the readability of text, particularly science instructional texts
Statistics for Computing: Applying statistical methods to investigation of the software engineering process
Computing for Statistics: Computational methods for statistics, particularly simulation-based methods

World Champion, 4-legged league
Robocup Federation (Germany) I am a member of the University of Newcastle Robot soccer team, the NUBots. The NUBots won the 4-legged league of the world robot soccer championship in 2006 in Bremen, Germany. RoboCup is an international joint project to promote AI, robotics, and related field. It is an attempt to foster AI and intelligent robotics research by providing a standard problem where wide range of technologies can be integrated and examined. The NUBots finished 3rd in the 4-legged league in 2002, 2003 and 2004 and 2nd in 2005. |
