Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science (Nuclear Medicine)
Nuclear medicine scientists are responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures involving the preparation and administration of radiopharmaceuticals and the acquisition and analysis of diagnostic images.. Nuclear Medicine uses sophisticated medical imaging technology and radiopharmaceuticals to image and treat a wide variety of injuries or diseases including sports injuries, cardiovascular disease, dementia, and cancer.
Nuclear medicine scientists assume clinical roles from graduate practitioners through to experts and specialists. They can develop and move into upper level management roles such as Chief nuclear medicine scientists or Directors of Medical Imaging Services in both the public and private sectors. Nuclear medicine scientists also assume roles in higher education and undertake research.
The degree is accredited by the Australian and New Zealand Society of Nuclear Medicine and graduates will be eligible to apply for national registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
