Aged and Disability Officers work alongside aged and disability service providers to identify gaps in services or issues impacting on older people and people with a disability. They also act as an advocate for improved service coordination and addressing identified needs. This often involves providing information and referral services to the community, working to identify gaps in aged and disability services to improve services, keeping abreast of community and council activities, training dates, and other services that may be utilised by service providers and address any social issues that may arise in relation to aged and disability services.

A person who takes on this type of role, will need to posses self assurance, and awareness of the issues faced by aged and disabled people, be able to relate to people on many different levels, without being condescending, and have developed networking skills.
