Geospatial analysts apply remote sensing and GIS skills to create representations and maps of particular geographic locations. Often these are created using highly specialised software packages and are tailored to suit the specific needs of the client. This may mean integrating satellite imagery to create three-dimensional terrain representations for the aerospace and aviation industry, or creating highly accurate roadmaps for government agencies.
Though employers require geospatial engineers to have thorough technical knowledge, this is an industry in which on the job training is often utilised. Geospatial mapping is a growth industry in which graduate positions are often readily available and post-graduate qualification is not necessarily essential.
