Cadetship roles are available in the construction industry for people currently studying at undergraduate level (building cadet) and for recent graduates (graduate cadet). The graduate cadet role allows the individual to learn all aspects of the business and get to gain a 360 degree experience in construction through undertaking rotation through different roles. During this time, they may be appointed an experienced mentor who provides support and guidance, sharing their knowledge and experience.
The cadet role may be office-based, site-based or a combination of the two.
Office Based Role - Ideal for someone looking to get in to contracts, quantity surveying or project management. The role may include reporting to a project manager, quantity surveyor or contracts administrator. Cadets may perform tasks that include contracts administration, preparing tender packages and construction programming.
Site Based Role - Suitable for an individual looking to get in to site engineer or project management roles. The role may include reporting the site management staff. Cadets perform a range of tasks that include site administration, OH&S administration and monitoring, site engineering and client representation / liaison. The cadet learns the skills required in a range of on-site activities from daily programming to sub-contracts management.
